Ms. Li and I discussed issues involving Chinese 7 and 8. We are also working on Flex for 6th Graders at the beginning of the second semester.
Chinese 7 has been focusing on Pinyin introduction since this school year started, now they are ready to move on to learning Chinese characters. Chinese 8 has been moving smoothly, but Pinyin and tone control have slowed down the progress. We both agree that to lay a solid foundation for beginner students is the most important in learning this tonal language. It makes future studies easier.
Other issues involving students on different lovels are all related to the same issue: how to introduce Chinese involving Pinyin, tones and character learning.
